Vintage Collectible 1920's Madame Alexander Dolls
With the Great Depression in 1929, dolls suddenly became a luxury making it difficult for the Alexander Doll Company to survive. Beatrice went back to the WWII days when her father's doll shop and hospital was in trouble. In 1929, Beatrice once again fashioned a cloth doll. This time it was the Alice doll from "Alice in Wonderland". The Madame Alexander Alice doll had raised felt features and her face was hand-painted with oil paints. The Alice doll was re-released in 1933 when Parmount Pictures released the Alice in Wonderland Movie.
